If you are downtown and looking for a spot to have a casual lunch or dinner (they are open 7 days a week from 11h00-23h30), Terrasse Lafayette offers the best quality / experience / price ratio in the Plateau.
They have a great dining room - cool, comfortable, laid back and spacious. If you are there during the summer, they have a huge corner lot terrace. The traditional Greek/Pizzeria menu doesn’t create great expectations, but the food is delicious and defines generous: the old-school deep dish pizzas have the perfect balance of crust and fresh, hand-cut toppings; the salads are huge, but well dressed; the pasta servings are just massive, therefore perfect to get you through lunch the next day (and possibly the day after as well).
I have to make a note about how kid-friendly they are, because they really do go out of their way. They always openly welcome us with our strollers and ridiculous quantity of baby gear, finding us an out of the way table with plenty of room, and on our last visit, my wife took out a baby bottle and within moments the waitress appeared with a cup full of hot water to warm it – very cool.
Try:
The Greek Salad –normally a Greek salad with lettuce is a huge pet peeve for me, but somehow at Terrasse the end result is great, and the generous handful of crumbled Greek Feta is the perfect topping
The Calamari – one of the best in Montreal, in my opinion, and trust me – I try them all.
